Your support of public radio probably results from the desire to be affiliated with the high standards of WPLN and NPR. WPLN will work with you to create an underwriting announcement that meets your needs and adheres to designated FCC guidelines for public radio.

Underwriting announcements are intended to identify the sponsor, their products and services and their contact information.

Public Radio can:

blue square Establish organization’s name and location

blue square Describe your main products or services

blue square Include a telephone number or website

blue square Mention a well established, recognizable corporate slogan in use for at least six months

blue square Make value-neutral statements about your product or service

blue square Broadcast how long you have been in business, if you wish

blue square State that you support WPLN or one of the programs it airs

The FCC asks Public Radio to avoid:

blue square The use of comparative, qualitative or suggestive language

blue square Addressing the usefulness, convenience or advantages of the product or service

blue square The mention of prices, interest rates, or indications of savings associated with products or services

blue square Any use of the first or second person

blue square Employing inducements to buy, sell, rent, lease, borrow or loan

blue square Any calls to action

blue square The advocation of any matter of public interest
