Metro Public Schools has been turned down for an extra $40 million to craft individual learning plans for thousands of students, but that plan will go ahead.
Nashville was a finalist for a federal Race to the Top grant, but lost out to cities like Miami, Seattle and Charleston. The district wanted the money to write individual plans for some 27 thousand students – a third its enrollment. But superintendent Jesse Register says that effort will move forward, even without the federal money.
