Planning Commission Will Vote on Whether to Reconsider May Town

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009, by Blake Farmer

Next week the Metro Planning Commission will take a vote on whether or not it should reconsider approval of a massive office park known as May Town Center. The Planning Department put developers and Metro Council members on notice Wednesday.

Developer Tony Giarratana had requested that the commission take another vote because of some confusion surrounding the vote June 25th which followed hours of public hearing.

The Planning Department staff and the Commission chairman could have rejected Giarratana’s request, but instead will give the option to the full body at its meeting next Thursday. In a letter, Planning director Rick Bernhardt says the request is not completely without merit but the decision will be left to the full commission.

The request to reconsider May Town Center will be voted on, but the commission will take no public testimony. It will only determine whether or not to schedule a rehearing at some date in the future.
