In Nashville there’s a new push to build “green” or environmentally friendly. Some 23 projects are pursuing LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. So far only two projects in the city have achieved it – Hastings Architecture Office and Vanderbilt University. With a little encouragement from students, Vanderbilt reached LEED’s Silver level for two residence halls at its new freshman complex, called The Commons. WPLN’s Judy Tackett reports on what it took to get LEED certified.
