The state department of Economic and Community Development is hosting a seminar tomorrow, hoping to match small, minority and women owned businesses with government and private sector contracts.
Tomorrow’s event will be the first the department is holding in Nashville. Michelle Proctor is in charge of the so-called ‘match-making’ events, and says many small and minority owned companies have told the department they want help in expanding their businesses.
“And this event isn’t necessarily promising that you’re going to come and get a contract the day of the event. What it is promising is that we’re going to give you several opportunities, so you’re going to have a one-on-one with a buyer.”
Proctor estimates nearly 200 companies–both buyers and sellers—will attend the event.
