Donald Trump’s win in Tennessee was never in doubt. But even some of his supporters were cautious about his chances to take the White House. Now, they’re seriously considering what they want to see from the Trump presidency.
Joy Hilliker of Cookeville, has a clear top priority for the president-elect. It relates to her career in healthcare research.
“I think the healthcare reform is imploding and that it needs some repair, so I hope that that’s something that he takes care of,” she said.
Hilliker sees healthcare as having one of the most direct impacts on her family. And with Republican control of Washington, she expects action.
So does Tara Humphrey, of Knoxville — although she hopes Trump will scale back his border security plan.
“I don’t agree with building of the wall,” she said. “I do think that we need to patrol our borders better. I just don’t agree with the wall.
She considers herself a reliable GOP voter — who came to Trump after a struggle.
“I’m just going to pray for the man, that’s all I’m going do, and just hope he doesn’t cause a war.”
