Rutherford County’s juvenile court judge is no longer an adjunct instructor at MTSU

Judge Donna Scott Davenport, who oversees Rutherford County’s juvenile court system, will no longer teach at Middle Tennessee State University, according to an email sent to faculty and staff Tuesday evening.

Another charter school is coming to West Nashville, after the new state commission voted in favor Tuesday

Nashville Classical Charter School won approval to open a second campus on Tuesday. The school was one of the first to be reviewed by the new Tennessee Public Charter School Commission. Previously, appeals were evaluated by the State Board of Education.

Gov. Lee announces a plan to create new public education funding formula

Gov. Bill Lee wants to do away with the Basic Education Program, Tennessee’s 30-year-old funding formula for K-12 schools. BEP has been criticized for calculating funding levels that aren’t enough for public schools. It’s even been the target of lawsuits from counties claiming the funding formula left their district broke.

After mask madness, Williamson County Schools tries reining in public comments

Governor Lee Extends Executive Order Allowing Students To Opt Out Of Wearing Masks

Governor Bill Lee has announced he will extend his executive order that allows kids to not follow mask mandates. The move comes after federal judges have made the governor’s order ineffective in three counties, citing the Americans With Disabilities Act.
