WPLN continues a series to mark the five year anniversary of the Iraq war today by looking at how the Army has dealt with its losses at home.
Since soldiers began deploying to Afghanistan and Iraq in 2003, the number of casualties from Fort Campbell has climbed to 225. Starting with the second deployment in 2005, the post holds a monthly ceremony to acknowledge the sacrifice of soldiers who died the previous month. Similar services occur at installations around the country, but are closed events. Fort Campbell officials have allowed WPLN to record the Eagle Remembrance Ceremony for the first time.
