A long-time promotion at the Nashville Sounds home games, Faith Nights, has expanded to 46 cities for this summer.
Locally-based Third Coast Sports organizes the events which include a Christian rock show before the game, a Biblically-themed handout at the gate and Christian testimony from some of the home team’s players.
Last year the promotion made its major league debut. (Today/yesterday) Third Coast announced the events will expand to 10 major league ball parks around the country.
Third Coast president Brent High, who’s a former marketing manager for the Sounds, says the growth of Faith Nights has surprised everybody.
“To have the Dodgers take a call and within 24 hours have a deal struck with the Los Angeles Dodgers was just beyond our wildest expectations. We have four or five teams that are already looking at ’08 because they just didn’t have time this year to put it together at the major league level.”
High says the activities are meant to drive attendance and it’s apparently worked. Late last summer the Texas Rangers – who were way down in the standings – sold an extra 11-thousand tickets and gave credit to the evening’s promotion – a Faith Night.
