Tennessee business owners must wait until next week to read the fine print in a bill that could raise how much they pay to the state.
State Revenue Commissioner Reagan Farr had intended to publish what’s known as the “technical correction bill” today. But says he needs the weekend to work out more details.
One issue is taking over business tax collections from local governments. Many county clerks want the state to stay out it, and Farr says he’s willing to listen to their suggestions.
“We really would like an opportunity to sit down with the clerks and come up with the best possible solution that achieves our goals but still lets them have contact with their customers in the local arena.”
The technical correction bill is expected to bring in an additional 37 million dollars to the state.
