Bonnaroo joined several of Nashville’s independent music venues, as well as other festivals like Pitchfork Music Festival, in putting in place more COVID restrictions.
The popular Manchester, Tenn., festival will check for proof of vaccination or a recent negative COVID test, it announced Tuesday.
The festival is quickly approaching on Sept. 2-5. Attendees have until Aug. 19 to get the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine or the second shot of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines. It takes a two-week period to be fully vaccinated, according to the CDC.
While Bonnaroo “strongly encourages” the vaccine, a negative COVID test within 72 hours of the festival will also suffice.
Unvaccinated attendees should wear a mask, the festival says, and all attendees will be required to wear masks indoors, regardless of vaccination status.
The festival usually draws nearly 80,000 people to the 650-acre farm.
