Tuesday is the last day to register in Tennessee for the 2022 midterm elections. There’s still time to register online and in person.
Across the nation, this election is expected to have large impacts. Congressional Democrats are fighting to keep as many seats as possible in the House. While predictions show Republicans have a good chance of flipping seats after this year’s redistricting.
But there are also local and statewide implications here in Tennessee. The ballots include several constitutional amendments and statewide races this year.
That’s one of the reasons high school student Gerolin Baker registered to vote last week.
“I feel like we should be as teenagers, younger adults, we should be involved in our community’s decisions,” Baker said.
According to U.S. Census data, the number of Tennessee voters ages 18-24 more than tripled from 2014 to 2020.
You can find more information on how to register to vote at your county election commission or visit GoVoteTN.gov.
