Nashville-based Louisiana Pacific announced plans today to purchase a factory in Brazil.
The plant produces oriented strand board, or OSB. In a press release, Vice President Rick Olszewski said the move is intended to help grow LP’s international business.
The company reported drops in OSB sales for each of the first three quarters this year. Since August, LP has closed or suspended operations at three North American OSB plants, and has said it plans to move another one from Maine to an undetermined South American location.
LP currently operates two South American facilities, producing OSB and siding. Both are in Chile.
