Developers are almost ready to hear from people who want to live in a new, affordable apartment building near downtown Nashville. But there’s a catch. Ryman Lofts is intended just for artists.
Painters and musicians, dancers and actors; the building is meant to house people working in all sorts of creative fields who would otherwise have a hard time making rent. There will be one screening process to decide if applicants qualify as artists and another to determine if they meet federal guidelines for low income housing.
Ryman Lofts is part of the Metro Development and Housing Agency’s efforts to transform Rolling Mill Hill into an urban neighborhood of shops, restaurants, offices and homes. The agency will begin accepting applications for the apartments in Ryman Lofts starting October 8th.
