The Metro Planning Commission voted last night to keep plans for the country’s largest Habitat for Humanity development alive.
The non-profit developer purchased a tract in North Nashville earlier this year zoned for more than 400 homes. Metro Councilman Frank Harrison asked for a review because neighbors were upset about the proposed development. In response, the Metro Planning Department staff recommended that commissioners hand over final authority to the Metro Council. Instead, the commission voted to keep the Habitat plans active, which allows the low-income development to go forward.
