Vought Aircraft Industries has threatened to replace some 900 workers who went on strike more than three months ago.
Vought’s plant near the Nashville International Airport has been manufacturing wings and tail sections with temporary workers. International Association of Machinists spokesman Bob Wood says the threat is likely an empty one. He says union members would not be easy to replace.
“This plant is here because these are some of the most productive, highest skilled people in the business.”
Union leaders and company officials still have a scheduled negotiating session on the calendar for next week. The sticking point between the two has centered around lost pension benefits.
