Vought Aircraft Industries made yet another threat today as a strike by union workers enters its 15th week. Vought informed the International Association of Machinists Local 235 that if there’s no labor agreement by midnight next Friday, Vought will move production for a new Cessna plane to another location.
The Citation Columbus was previously scheduled for the Nashville facility. The company says work must start immediately to meet customer deadlines. Vought doesn’t want to start production with temporary workers.
The aircraft manufacturer told 900 striking workers earlier this week that the company will begin hiring permanent replacements. The two sides have a negotiating session set for Tuesday.
