Attitudes about same sex marriage may be changing nationally, but a new poll from MTSU finds most Tennesseans are still opposed. 62 percent of those surveyed were against allowing gay and lesbian couples to legally marry. A poll just released in California showed residents there approve by almost the same amount.
But MTSU’s polls of Tennesseans also found strong opposition to the so-called “Don’t Say Gay” bill, which would forbid school teachers from talking with their students about homosexuality. 57 percent of those surveyed said they don’t support the bill.
