Teledyne Electronic Manufacturing Services in Lewisburg let go of 20 employees this week.
The company has 350 workers and is a major supplier to defense contractors. General Manager Norm Wolstein says the layoffs represent 6% of its workforce.
“As far as whether those positions will be refilled, it depends on the business environment going forward.”
Teledyne’s job cuts in Lewisburg come just four days before its second quarter earnings report, which is due out on Friday.
Another Marshall County employer also announced layoffs this week. Contracts weren’t renewed for 12 employees at the county school system. No teachers were part of the announcement.
Marshall County’s unemployment rate was 15.7%. Figures for June haven’t yet been released.
