Tennessee Security Firm Lands $230 Million Government Contract For “Entrance Safety” At U.S. Facilities

A Franklin company has landed a $230 million contract with the federal government.  Smith and Wesson Security Solutions is no stranger to government work.  It does business with more than 20 federal agencies, including the Department of Defense. It makes everything from guard booths to security camera systems and license plate readers. Earlier this year, the company won a $63 million maintenance contract from the US Army Corps of Engineers.

Now, Smith and Wesson will build and design what it calls “secure entry points” for government installations around the world.  While short on specifics, the company notes in a news release that it’s built similar systems for more than 125 military installations. Smith and Wesson Security Solutions employs around 80 at its Franklin headquarters. While it shares a name with the famous gun manufacturer, it was bought by a Michigan-based security firm last year.
