A Fort Campbell soldier died Tuesday in Afghanistan from an incident not related to combat operations.
Sgt. Erick Klusacek was killed in a vehicle accident. The cavalry scout with the 3rd Brigade Combat Team was in eastern Afghanistan’s Paktika Province. He was 22 and is survived by his wife and daughter of Watertown, New York.
A young officer from the 101st Airborne was also killed this week by small arms fire, which was previously reported. Five soldiers died Monday in an IED attack. Their names have not yet been released by the Department of Defense. Families must be notified first. Fort Campbell has now lost 13 soldiers in Afghanistan this year.
