State Tax Collections Down In June, But Sales Tax Revenue Up – Slightly

State tax collections were slightly below budget projections for June, but state sales tax revenue grew.

It’s the third consecutive month of higher sales tax collections when compared to the year before. The rise is small – just a seven-tenths of a percent in June. Still, state officials consider it a good sign, considering the impact May flooding had a consumer spending. June numbers are based on actual spending in May.
