The so-far nameless park on the east bank of the Cumberland River, across from downtown Nashville, will be called “Cumberland Park.”
The city took suggestions and Thursday Mayor Karl Dean revealed a large majority of the 200 entries included the word “Cumberland.”
While the play park is being built, the former Nashville Bridge Company building is also being renovated. It will house office space for the Metro Parks Department, as well as concessions and restrooms. Completion of the combined $16 million project is scheduled for later this year.
