Cracker Barrel is announcing layoffs at its corporate headquarters in Lebanon. The restaurant chain is cutting costs and streamlining management.
Cracker Barrel is eliminating roughly 60 positions. Board chairman Michael Woodhouse says in a statement the job cuts are “difficult decisions.” He blames rising commodity costs expected next year as well as customers who still face economic uncertainty. Cracker Barrel’s sales have been relatively flat.
Affected employees are receiving severance pay, which will cost the company between $4-$5 million.
While moving toward a leaner headquarters, Cracker Barrel continues to grow, with more than 600 stores in 42 states. The company reports adding 1,200 restaurant jobs this year.
