This Memorial Day weekend could be hot enough to break a few daily high-temperature records around Middle Tennessee. The forecast calls for highs in the mid nineties through Monday.
Forecasters expect highs this weekend around 10 degrees above what’s normal for late May. But they say it will be a relatively dry heat, so not too sticky. It’s been a relatively dry spring in Nashville, with rainfall several inches below average. This weekend the Army Corps of Engineers is urging caution for swimmers and boaters, because of low water levels at Center Hill and Percy Priest lakes.
Nashville’s record high for the weekend was set a century ago, when a three-day heat wave peaked at 96 degrees. Experts figure some highs this weekend will come close to that record, if not pass it outright.
