On the surface, it’s a colorless, highly flammable petroleum-derived liquid that’s used as fuel in internal combustion engines. Along with coffee, it’s the stuff upon which America runs., But it’s so much more — it represents freedom and possibilities. It’s your get out of jail free card, an escape hatch, the way to a better life. And of course it’s fueled (pardon the pun) many a fine bluegrass tune.
