Nissan Quietly Opens Smyrna Battery Plant

Nissan says the first electric car batteries produced at its plant in Smyrna are ready to be charged up. The Franklin-based automaker announced the official opening of its new plant in Smyrna Wednesday with little fanfare.

VU Poll Finds Tennesseans Split on Medicaid Expansion

Summer Exhibit Will Illuminate Cheekwood

Sludge-Spill Anniversary Stirs Call for Coal-Ash Regulation

Environmental groups are using the fourth anniversary of a massive ash spill near Knoxville to raise the call for stronger regulation. The disaster at the Kingston Fossil Plant prompted the Environmental Protection Agency to reconsider its rules for coal ash, but little has changed since then.

Haslam Stiff Arms State Exchange

Tennessee will not create it’s own health insurance exchange as envisioned under President Obama’s Affordable Care Act. Governor Bill Haslam says he really did want to, telling the White House in a letter he “did not come to this decision lightly.”
