Emotions Mixed as State Plans to Drop Charges Against Occupiers

The state now wants the trespassing charges against anti-Wall Street protesters dropped. A spokesman for Governor Bill Haslam has announced he will ask the District Attorney to dismiss the misdemeanor citations.

Blackburn Confident Super Committee Will Find Enough to Trim

Alexander Expects Online Sales Tax Bill to Pass

Congressmen Hear Veterans’ Worries Over Benefits

Some Tennessee veterans are worried about possible cuts to the military. The Pentagon is already facing $450 billion in reductions over the next decade, and that could double, depending on the outcome of the Congressional supercommittee this month.

On a teleconference yesterday, two Tennessee congressmen fielded calls from vets and their families.

Fort Campbell Soldier Credited with Saving Platoon Leader’s Life

When an Afghan Border Patrolman turned a gun on American service members a year ago, he killed six soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell. One will receive the Silver Star for Valor on Thursday.
