Ft. Campbell Solider Killed in Afghanistan

A solider from the 101st Airborne at Ft. Campbell has been killed in Afghanistan. Sergeant James M. Darrough died of wounds suffered when Afghan insurgents attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device. Three other soldiers died in the attack, which took place Saturday in Kabul Province. Officials Continue Push on New Voter ID Law

Voucher Bill Characterized as Private School “Bailout”

A schoolyard fight over vouchers is taking shape in the state legislature. A Republican proposal would give low-income students more than $5,000 to use toward private school tuition. The House Education Committee started work on the bill Tuesday.

Haslam Stands by Curfew, Despite Restraining Order

Governor Bill Haslam is deflecting legal questions over last week’s arrest of some 50 Occupy Nashville protestors. Today he stood by a curfew for the state’s Legislative Plaza, even though lawyers for the state backed off that curfew in court yesterday.
