Besides the lives and homes lost in last weekend’s floods across the state, Nashville is taking stock of its musical heritage. From cherished institutions to vintage instruments, the damage has been widespread. WPLN’s Craig Havighurst reports.
Hickman County Water System Faces Widespread Damage — Officials There Still Not Certain Everyone Accounted For
When floodwaters surged across the state over the weekend, Hickman County was effectively cut off from the rest of Middle Tennessee for several days. Officials there still aren’t certain they’ve accounted for everyone. The storm washed away bridges, power and water lines. Most of the 20 thousand people in the county are now getting their water of a bottle. WPLN’s Daniel Potter traveled to the area about 50 miles southwest of Nashville, and has this story.
Floodwaters from Downtown Basements Offered to Businesses
Metro water officials will start offering non-potable water for some clean up. The water can’t be used for drinking or household cleaning. It’s meant for washing away debris in neighborhoods, streets, and sidewalks. It can also be used for watering nursery plants.
List of Counties Eligible for FEMA Aid Grows
Dickson, Maury, Sumner and Rutherford are among six counties that have been added to the growing list of federal disaster areas in Tennessee.
