Infant mortality rates rise in Davidson County

The mortality rate among white infants in Davidson County rose 52 percent in recent years, while the black rate rose 28 percent, according to data out today from Metro Public Health.

Electric Bills To Drop A Few Dollars in Early 2009

Local electric bills should be lower starting in January. Because the Tennessee Valley Authority is spending less money on purchased power and natural gas, the utility is dropping its wholesale rates by about 6-percent. Savings for the average residential customer will range between 4 and 8 dollars per month.

Credit Markets Force Metro To Unusual Refinancing Move

The credit crisis nationally is forcing the city of Nashville to be more creative with some refinancing moves. For the first time the city is using a program from the Tennessee Municipal Bond Fund to help it refinance $59 million in debt.
