Among the biggest cities in the U.S., Nashville stands apart because it lacks a dedicated tax to fund transit. Establishing one would likely mean a ballot referendum, put forth by the mayor and decided on by voters. Both mayoral finalists have said they plan to do this.

The Tennessee Attorney General is asking a Nashville judge to reconsider blocking a new statehouse rule. State Republicans in the House voted to ban demonstrators from holding signs inside the gallery at the start of this week’s special legislative session.

Covenant School parents criticize Tennessee Senate for adjourning early

Parents of the Covenant School are urging the Tennessee legislature to pass two bills. One would keep child autopsies private. “We can all fill in the blanks of what a high-capacity rifle can do to a small body,” says Mary Joyce. Her 9-year-old daughter lived through the Covenant School attack.
