‘People are raw’: Gun safety advocates press for change at Tennessee’s special legislative session

Authorities are expecting protests much of this week as the Tennessee General Assembly meets for a special session. In fact, city police are encouraging folks who commute downtown to instead work from home in anticipation of crowds.

A small Tennessee town evacuates after a gas pipeline explodes

A gas pipeline station exploded in Middle Tennessee, sending one person to the hospital Friday morning.  Anyone within a one-mile radius of the pipeline facility in Hickman County was evacuated, and authorities have set up temporary shelters.

Tennessee Democrats file legislation to close the loophole that allows prohibited people from accessing guns

The Inflation Reduction Act has been called the most significant climate law in U.S. history, with promises to radically shift electricity from fossil fuels to clean sources.  In Tennessee, the legislation could shape a new wave of clean energy manufacturing, but it has been absent in the state’s electricity plans.

Rep. Justin Jones sworn in days ahead of Tennessee’s special session on public safety

Rep. Justin Jones, D-Nashville, was sworn in for the third time Thursday at the Capitol. He won his special election last month. It came after he was expelled for leading a protest from the House floor.
