Nashville’s Family Safety Center marks five years of working with survivors of domestic and sexual violence

About 200 people gathered at Nashville’s Family Safety Center to observe its fifth anniversary working with victims of domestic and sexual violence, child and elder abuse, and human trafficking. Since opening in 2019, they’ve received over 55,000 in-person and remote visits from survivors.

Legislation filed in Tennessee’s statehouse would increase the penalty for people that give a ride to an undocumented immigrant.

Tennessee nurse practitioner known as ‘Rock Doc’ gets 20 years for illegally prescribing opioids

A Tennessee nurse practitioner who called himself the “Rock Doc” has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for illegally prescribing thousands of doses of opioids including oxycodone and fentanyl in return for money and sex, federal prosecutors said Tuesday.

Unusable kitchens and inaccessible entrances: Housing complaint zeroes in on Middle TN apartment complexes

Extension of Tennessee’s statute of limitations for sexual assault civil court cases goes to governor’s desk

Victims of sexual assault in Tennessee will soon get more time to receive financial compensation. Current state law allows a victim of sexual assault one year to pursue civil action. A bill heading to the desk of Gov. Bill Lee would extend that time frame to three years.
