Three more soldiers with the 101st Airborne Division have died this month in Afghanistan.
The Department of Defense says Staff Sgt. Eric B. Shaw and Spc. David W. Thomas were killed Sunday when their unit was attacked by small arms fire in the Konar province.
31-year-old Eric Shaw was from Exeter, Maine. Shaw is survived by his wife, Audrey R. Shaw; and daughters Madison and Victoria -all of Clarksville – and his mother, Michelle Campbell of Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
40-year-old David Thomas was from St. Petersburg, Fla. He is survived by his wife Latoya Thomas; son Jayden and daughter Imani and step-son, Basheer H. Cross, all of Fort Campbell; a daughter, Jachardonae Thomas of Kathleen, Florida, and son, David W. Thomas, Jr., of Springfield, Ohio; and mother, Mary Thomas of Allendale, South Carolina.
A third member of the 1st Brigade Combat Team also died Sunday. 26-year-old John M. Rogers died of non-combat injuries at the Forward Operating Base Blessing. He is survived by his wife Zuleika F. Rogers of Scottsdale, Arizona, and his father, John H. Rogers of Kansas City, Missouri.
