In the past ten years, at least 25 Nashville record labels have shut their doors, while others have downsized or consolidated. That’s caused a lot of pain, but it’s also launched a new wave of music business entrepreneurs. Some of the industry’s most experienced executives have been cut loose in mid-career and find themselves facing hard choices about their future in a business they love. In part three of our series “Music City Remixed,” Craig Havighurst reports that the downsizing might be just a necessary step on the road to reinvention.
