If you missed the chance to enjoy Tuesday’s sunshine, don’t wait up for a second round of favorable weather.
Severe storms are expected to hit Middle Tennessee from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. Wednesday. You don’t want to be caught throwing a Frisbee at Centennial Park in Nashville or hiking a trail at Narrows of the Harpeth in Kingston Springs.
The Nashville Weather Service says “areas west of I-24 have the greatest threat of severe weather.” The biggest concern is damaging straight-line winds and isolated tornadoes. Light showers and spot flooding is also possible.
NWS is also warning Middle Tennesseans that Nashville’s local NOAA transmitter is down. Residents are advised to rely on cell phone alerts, weather apps and local news programs for storm warnings.
Winds could top more than 50 miles an hour, so bring in any outdoor belongings that you don’t want to lose in the strong gusts. And don’t forget to find extra batteries in case of a power outage.
BNA reports a 32 mph gust, this is only going to continue and strengthen this afternoon before the storm line arrives sometime between 7 PM and 10 PM tonight.
