City officials are bracing for an increase in the number of Davidson County residents who need help paying their rent and other bills.
Yesterday, the Metro Action Commission said it processed 278 applications for help – the first day of its new fiscal year. Last year, the agency processed 700 applications the first week of the new fiscal year.
MAC has partenered with Susan Gray Head Start Center to help with the increased demand. Now through July 10th, the school will take applications for assistance with electric or natural gas bills Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. – 12 noon. The main downtown location will accept applications for all its programs from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Applications can be picked up at all Metro Park Community Centers, Nashville Library branches, Nashville Electric Service, Metro Social Services, and the Knowles Senior Center.
