The airport rush during the Thanksgiving holiday season starts early this year. Nashville International officials expect record air travel numbers next week, with Sunday being one of the heaviest flying days.
Spokeswoman Emily Richard says crowded ticket counters and long security lines mean travelers should play it safe.
“We’re encouraging people to be here more than two hours early and by that we mean inside the terminal more than two hours early, just to allow them time to get through the security lines, get to their gate and be ready to board.”
Triple-A Auto Club South forecasts a two-percent increase in travel by air and by road.
Despite record gas prices, nearly 750-thousand Tennessee families are planning a road trip of 50-miles or more over the Thanksgiving week.
