Renovations to Nashville International Airport’s terminal are done. Work just finished that expanded the restaurant, ticketing and baggage claim areas. It cost 60 million dollars and employed about 2500 workers.
But, construction at the airport is still going on. Another 70 million dollar project will build a new rental car facility and re-route the roads to the airport’s parking garages. Raul Regalado, airport president, says he hopes the facility will continue to grow, even if it means more construction.
“As long as the community continues to be economically healthy and the airport continues to be economically viable, we’ll always have some construction going on to expand, to renovate, to enhance services and amenities for our customers and our tenants.”
The newly renovated terminal was named after 19-year airport board chairman Robert C.H. Mathews at a ceremony today.
