In his first State of the State address Monday, Gov. Bill Lee will speak about his legislative agenda, which includes initiatives in health care and school safety.
Specific proposals regarding criminal justice and education are also expected.
The new governor has already detailed some initiatives that are likely to be included. They target vocational education, mental health, school safety and expanding higher education opportunities for people in prison.
A proposal that would allow the use of private school vouchers, through education savings accounts, has also been hinted at by legislative leaders.
Lee is also expected to face people protesting the bust of Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest and the committee chairmanship of state Rep. David Byrd, who has been accused of sexual improprieties with three girls he coached in the 1980s.
The State of the State address starts at 6 p.m. You can listen live on 90.3 WPLN, or online at wpln.org.
