A coordinated marketing push to attract tourists to Nashville in April is apparently working. Six years ago, city officials began tracking tourism-related dollars in April because of the number of attractions that brought in out of towners. At a press conference highlighting this year’s upcoming events, Mayor Karl Dean said the payoff is good news.
“Since beginning the springtime promotion six years ago, Nashville as increased tourist related tax collections for the month of April by more than 37%.”
The city’s hallmark reputation as a destination for good music is part of nearly every event in April, from the Tin Pan South Songwriter’s festival to the Country Music Marathon, which showcases different bands at stops along the 26.2-mile route. Other events include the Nashville Film Festival, Gospel Music’s Dove Awards, and the CMT Music Awards.
