Senate to Vote on Bill Targeting Roll-Your-Own Tobacco

A state Senate committee has approved a proposal to raise taxes on cigarettes from “roll-your-own” tobacco shops. Right now raw tobacco is taxed less than cigarettes, and shop owners worry such a measure could put them out of business.

Guns-in-Trunks Bill Moving through Legislature

A bill allowing employees to keep guns locked in their cars while at work was approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee Tuesday, and could head to the Senate floor as early as Thursday.

Effort to Rework TWRA Fails

An effort to dramatically change the commission which oversees the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency failed yesterday. The panel that regulates hunting and fishing is due to expire this summer after coming under fire recently for new rules on hunting wild hogs.
