Charter Hopes to Cement Case Amid School Board Turnover

An out-of-state charter operator at odds with the Metro school board is hoping it can soon win approval to expand into Nashville. Tonight the board swears in several newly elected members, who might sign off on Great Hearts Academies after a summer of legal maneuvering.

A Warm Welcome For Goodlettsville All-Stars

Goodlettsville’s little-league all-stars came home to a heroes’ welcome Monday after making it to a World Series final. Though the team ultimately lost to Japan in the last game, the mood at the team’s ‘welcome home’ ceremony was jubilant.

Amid 287(g) Stir, Committee Revises Proposal On Sheriff

Last night a group of Metro council members voted to delete a controversial part of a proposed list of Nashville’s sheriff’s duties. They’re dropping the word “interrogation,” amid claims it would cement the sheriff’s role in deporting undocumented immigrants.
