Resolution To Make The Bible Tennessee’s Official State Book Returns To The Legislature

A push to designate the Bible the official state book of Tennessee has returned to the state legislature. This is the third time Rep. Jerry Sexton, R-Bean Station, has pushed this measure (HJR0150), despite some concerns of its constitutionality from other lawmakers.

ETSU President ‘Would Have Done Some Things Differently’ With Students Protesting During National Anthem

East Tennessee State University’s President Brian Nolan says he will change how he talks to student athletes who want to kneel during the national anthem. At a university budget hearing, lawmakers questioned Nolan on his allowance of the men’s basketball team to protest during the anthem last weekend.

Gov. Lee Wants Tennessee To Spend On Broadband, Expanded Gun Rights In Latest Budget Proposal

Gov. Bill Lee wants the state to spend about $200 million in what he hopes would bring broadband to every community across the state. The plan was announced Monday during the annual State of the State address in which Lee unveiled his $41.8 billion spending plan.
