Black Beats Zelenik Again

Incumbent Diane Black easily won her rematch against Lou Ann Zelenik in the 6th Congressional district’s GOP Primary. Two years ago, Black squeaked past Zelenik by fewer than 300 votes. This time, the margin of victory was more than two to one.

Appeal on the Way in Desegregation Lawsuit

Kudos and Warnings for Tennessee Schools

Tennessee education officials are praising twenty-one school systems for “exemplary” results in the last academic year. At the same time, they’re sending warnings to more than a third of the state’s school districts. The message: standardized test scores aren’t improving fast enough for at least some of your students.

Test Scores Show Gains in Younger Grades but Trouble in Algebra II, Biology

Tennessee’s district-by-district test scores for the last academic year are out. Two-thirds of the school systems saw across-the board improvement on the state’s standardized tests for elementary and middle schools, known as TCAP. Results for high school are more mixed.
