Teacher Performance to be Monitored Online

When Tennessee teachers return to school this month, they’ll face a brand new way of being scored on their performance. Classroom observations will make up about half of that score, and the state plans to make the results of those in-class critiques available almost in real time.

When it Comes to Grading Teachers, State Faces Math Problems

Tennessee’s Education Commissioner appeared in a panel on teacher quality before Congress Wednesday. In his testimony, Kevin Huffman said that even though teachers’ jobs may depend on new evaluation scores, the state still hasn’t figured out just how to add those up.

Bridgestone Arena Ranks Worldwide for Concert Attendance

Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena has seen big music audiences this year, thanks in part to hockey. According to Pollstar, the venue ranked ninth in the country for selling the most concert tickets. That’s up 14 spots since the same time last year.
