Attorney says electrocardiogram at Tennessee execution was active after inmate was pronounced dead

An attorney for a recently executed Tennessee inmate says an electrocardiogram showed “sustained cardiac activity” nearly two minutes after Byron Black was pronounced dead. Attorneys for the state say requiring members of the execution team to testify risks exposing their identities, even if their faces are hidden and their voices disguised.

The owner of the Tennessee factory where workers drowned after Hurricane Helene won’t face charges

The Memphis church pivotal in Martin Luther King Jr.’s final days suffers a devastating fire

Tennessee board recommends that governor pardon country star Jelly Roll

The Tennessee Board of Parole on Tuesday recommended a pardon for country music star Jelly Roll, a Nashville native who has spoken openly about his criminal history and what it has taken to overcome it. The board’s action leaves the final decision on a pardon up to Gov. Bill Lee.

Viral videos of Nashville dogs called a ‘Himalayan fur goblin’ and ‘teacup werewolf’ boost adoptions

When the COVID pandemic practically shut down Nashville’s animal shelters, a volunteer photographer tried something different to get more dogs adopted. She posted videos to showcase the different dogs’ personalities. Their popularity has led to an increase in both donations and adoptions.
