For our upcoming daily show, This Is Nashville, transparency is important. So, we want to take you behind the scenes as we build this show from the ground up. This is the sixth in a series of blog posts introducing our team and letting you in on the process.
So, here we are! Less than a week to go before we launch the show, and I couldn’t be more excited. Since I moved to Nashville almost six months ago (where has the time gone?!) I’ve been able to help assemble an outstanding team, meet new people and get a sense of the vibe of Nashville and Middle Tennessee. This city and region has a rich, deep and complicated history that I am ready to dive right into with This Is Nashville.
As most people know, it can be hard not to take your work home with you. Maybe there’s a lingering project, a fast-approaching deadline or a moment that just sticks in your mind. I think it is fair to say that the entire team at This Is Nashville fully understands that point. Between visiting community members for interviews, reporting out in the field and pitching ideas in our daily meetings, we’re constantly exposing ourselves to new points and perspectives. We are examining these points and perspectives to gain a greater understanding of what this place is all about, and what it means to all of us. We are living with our work and yes, sometimes taking it home with us. You can see that my cat Gary is eager to help as well.
I, for one, have been fundamentally changed during these past six months. What an incredible opportunity it’s been to learn new terrain and customs. This is the first time since college that I have moved to a new city without knowing a single person. Oh boy, has it been a blessing. Not only am I meeting wonderful people who will be a part of the show, I am making new friends. I’m not one to use the term friends lightly so know that I mean it. These people are the salt of the earth.
I hope that you join us in this journey of discovery, because a journey like this is always better with good company. See you at noon on March 1.
Best wishes,
