Nashville’s Belmont University plans to turn a neighboring church into a classical concert hall.
The school announced Friday a $7 million renovation to Belmont Heights Baptist Church, which is already owned by the university. Belmont is now trying to raise the money to pay for construction.
A statement from the school says the Belmont Heights congregation will be allowed to continue worshiping in what will be a new concert venue, albeit with much-improved acoustics
Some of the same architects who designed the Schermerhorn Symphony Center are working on the new Belmont concert hall.
